Ron Jacobs
Worked in the UVM library from 1994-2005 and participated in two successful union campaigns during that period. Writerand journalist. President of AFSCME 1343 for two terms (2020-2021) representing workers for the City of Burlington and throughout northwestern Vermont.
Ann Lipsitt
Director. Retired middle school special educator and literacy specialist who was active in her union as a negotiator for many years. Along with Will, she homesteaded in Westford, VT for over 30 years raising sheep, growing food and building their home. Ann is a lifelong social justice activist. She was on the Vermont board of Haymarket People’s Fund and co-founded the Green Mountain Fund for Popular Struggle, assisting organizations in Vermont to fund the work of grassroots organizations.
Fred Magdoff
UVM Professor Emeritus. Founding member of United Academics and active member of the union after it formed, during the later part of his tenure at UVM (from 1973 to 2007). Author of over 100 papers in a variety of academic journals and co-author or co-editor of nine books.
Anne Petermann
Executive Director of Global Justice Ecology Project, which she co-founded in 2003. She is also the International Coordinator of the Campaign to STOP GE Trees which she co-founded in 2014.
Helen Scott
UVM Professor of English since 1999 with publications in global literature and Rosa Luxemburg studies. A founding member of United Academics, the faculty union, she is active in labor, campus and community organizing in Vermont.
